Upstreet Volunteers

K–5th Grade

UpStreet volunteers show up and work together in their unique roles to create a fun environment for elementary kids to learn who God is and how he wants them to live. We could not open the doors of UpStreet without the incredible volunteers who offer their gifts to serve our kids.

Small Group Leaders connect relationally each week with an assigned group of eight to ten children to speak truth into their lives and celebrate spiritual growth.

Check In makes the best first impression by greeting first-time guests and guiding new families through the registration and check-in process to make them feel welcome and informed. (Commitment is every other week.)

Special Needs Team provides a safe, caring environment where children with special needs learn about God’s love for them.

Production Team puts on a weekly large-group experience and consists of the following:

Worship Team leads kids in song with energy and enthusiasm to worship God for who he is and what he has done.
Storyteller communicates the Bible story and Bottom Line in such a way that it becomes unforgettable to a child.
Tech Team enhances the Bible story and worship experience through sound, lights, and video without distracting the audience.
The Hangout provides a fun and safe environment for kids in order to give their parents the opportunity to serve strategically. (Commitment is weekly.)

We would love to talk with you about joining our team. If you are interested and would like more information about volunteering in Waumba Land, please click here to fill out the form.

Waumba Land Volunteers

Six weeks – Pre-K

Every Sunday, our volunteers show up and work together in their unique roles to create a loving environment for our preschoolers. Waumba Land is completely fueled by volunteers. We could not exist without their leadership and expertise.

The main volunteer roles are:

  • Small Group Leaders connect relationally with eight to ten preschoolers and their families. They also implement classroom activities that foster the spiritual growth of the children in their rooms.
  • Large Group Team creates an engaging and interactive environment for children to worship and experience a Bible story. This team consists of Storytellers, Worship Leaders, and Producers.

We would love to talk with you about joining our team. If you are interested and would like more information about volunteering in Waumba Land, please click here to fill out the form.

Wiregrass Kids Promotion

As hundreds of kids are heading to their new classrooms on August 14th, we want Promotion Sunday to be a smooth sailing day for you and your family. We are prepared to keep lines moving and to serve you as quickly as possible. Promotion Sunday is going to be a GREAT day! Talk to your kids before they arrive and remind them that they will be going to a new room and meeting their new small group leader. Let us know if you have any questions. We can’t wait to see you!

New Rooms

The new room your child will be going to will be printed on your child’s nametag at check in. Just look just outside the door to find out what classroom room your child will be in. Our team will be in the halls of Waumba Land and UpStreet if you have any questions.

New Small Group Leaders

Your child might be meeting their new small group leader for the first time on Sunday. When you come back to pick up your child, please take a minute to introduce yourself. It will take a few weeks to remember everyone’s name, but our leaders are excited to meet you!

Waumba Land Promotion Process:

We promote kids based on their development from Babies to Crawlers and then from Crawlers to Toddlers. So, once an infant is crawling well, we promote him up to a Crawlers classroom. When a child begins walking, we promote him up to a Toddler classroom.  We feel like these developmental stages are pretty big changes and require a different room set up for his safety. It also allows us to cater to his specific needs.

We begin promoting preschoolers according to their birthday starting in the Two’s class. That way they are then promoted to each consecutive year with the kids that they will be attending Three’s, Fours, and then Kindergarten with.  This allows us to keep children in classes with other children as close to their age and development as possible.  This means that there could be a child in the Two-year-old classroom who will turn three in September and will be three-years-old for the rest of the year.  We will do our best to group these kids together.  It is much like school classrooms where children have birthdays throughout the year and yet stay in the appropriate class. To find out which class your child should be in based on their birthday, click here to view the chart. (.PDF)

UpStreet Promotion Process:

Elementary kids are put into groups based on their grade and gender. They will stay with the same group of kids and their same leader each week. We want kids to see how God’s Word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to him, and to build friendships that will last. That’s why it’s important to make sure your child connects with the same friends and same leader at the same hour—EVERY SUNDAY! They will move up to the next grade each year on Promotion Sunday.

BabyD

No one will have more influence on your child than you! We believe what happens at home is more important than what happens at church. It is our hope that we can partner with you from the very beginning. We want to be your biggest fans, your strongest supporters, and your trusted guides as you raise your child to know what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

BabyD is more than an event. It is a 3-step process that creates an opportunity for you to set aside some time at the beginning of your parenting journey to think about what will matter the most in the life of your child — to decide what you value and what you can do today that will have the greatest impact on your child’s future.

Registration for our next Baby Dedication coming soon!

Step 1: Registration

To ensure a special environment, our BabyD event is limited to 15 children and registration is first come, first served.

Step 2: Preparation

As part of the process of participating in BabyD, we ask that parents write a letter to their child. You can download the instructions and letter here, or you can pick up a Baby D Packet in Waumba Land. We also need 3 photos of your child and 3 photos of your family. You can send photos to [email protected].

Step 3: Dedication

Now, it’s time to celebrate! During this event, we will create an intimate, memorable space, and we encourage you to rejoice in the life of your child and their future. Please keep in mind that space is limited during this event. As a result, each party will have a table reserved for a maximum of 10 people. We will have overflow seating for other family and friends who wish to attend.

During the celebration, you will have an opportunity to share your letter at your table, and we will lead you in a prayer of dedication. The total event will last about an hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there more parenting resources you recommend?

Aside from the content you will receive at BabyD, we have intentionally compiled four short parenting messages. We feel these messages will help you start right now, at the beginning, to do things that will truly matter most to you and your child in the future.

How much does BabyD cost?

There is no cost to participate in BabyD.

How many people can I invite?

We will reserve 1 table with 8-10 chairs for you and your family. All other guests are welcome to sit in our overflow seating area.

What do I need to do between now and the day of the celebration?

To prepare for BabyD, you will need to write the letter to your child. You can also invite your friends and family. We will have invitations and a paper for your letter in the BabyD Packet in Waumba Land, or you can download them here: letter (.pdf) | invitation (.pdf)

What do I need to bring with me?

Besides your friends, family, and child, please bring a printed copy of the letter to your child.

What should we wear?

Whatever you and your little one will feel most comfortable in! Some people dress casually, in jeans, while others wear more formal attire.

Is this an infant baptism?

No. We believe that a child must be old enough to understand what it means to put their faith in Jesus Christ before they can be baptized. This event is an opportunity for you, as parents, to publicly declare that you want to raise your child to develop their own relationship with Jesus Christ.

Counseling Referrals

Counseling Referrals

When we have emotional needs, we can usually lean on friends, family members, or a community group. Sometimes, however, problems become more complicated and we need the guidance of a professional. When that time comes, the Care Network staff can help you find a competent, caring Christian counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist to help you through your time of crisis.

If your needs require the attention of a trained Christian professional counselor, please email [email protected] to get a personalized referral.

Re:new – One-to-one Mentoring

Re:new Ministry

Are you experiencing a difficult season of life? Do you need the support and encouragement of someone who really cares? When you face the painful challenges of life, we are here to lead you to hope in Jesus Christ.

Re:new is a mentoring ministry that pairs trained volunteer mentors with individuals that are going through a difficult season of life for support through prayer and encouragement. Through one-on-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive love and Christ-centered care.

The Re:new ministry is available to members and regular attendees of Wiregrass Church. Together we can face divorce, illness, grief, job loss, depression, abuse, neglect, abandonment, and behavioral/boundary issues. Because Re:new mentors are paired with one care receiver at a time, personal and individual attention can be given. Goals are set with a “watchful eye” for God’s timing and God’s agenda. Re:new mentors are equipped through training, group supervision and continuing education classes.

Please email [email protected] if you would like more information about the next steps in being paired with a mentor.

2 to 1 – Premarital Ministry

The decision to marry is one of the most important choices we make in life. Preparation for marriage involves much more than detailing a beautiful wedding. Our desire at Wiregrass Church is to help you establish a marriage that will endure and that you will enjoy for a lifetime.

The Premarital Mentoring Ministry has mentors to walk beside you through this time and offers resources to prepare you for what lies ahead. Great marriages don’t just happen … you have to work at them! A crucial part of having a great marriage is preparation. That’s why we encourage couples to participate in our premarital mentoring program.

Who?

Our mentoring is available to members and regular attendees who are already engaged. If you desire to be married by one of our pastors, then you are required to receive marriage preparation through the Premarital Mentoring Ministry.

What?

Step 1: Email us at [email protected].

Step 2: You will fill out the PREMARITAL QUESTIONNAIRE then meet with a Wiregrass Church Pastor.

Step 3: Take the PREPARE ASSESSMENT. (Don’t let that scare you. You don’t have to study for it, and it’s relatively painless. The only “pain” is that it takes about an hour. The inventory is one that has been around for many years and is very helpful in evaluating potential problem areas and strength areas in couple relationships.)

Step 4: Meet with a MENTORING COUPLE (After the inventory results are received, you’ll be assigned a “mentoring couple.” This trained, caring couple will meet with you approximately six to eight sessions. The mentor couple follows a structured program that covers what we believe to be the most relevant areas for having a successful marriage. You’ll find this couple to be a valuable asset as you prepare for marriage and deal with inevitable “issues.”)

What will this require of you?

Time: You will be asked to invest the time necessary to complete the process (about 6 months).

Fee: The cost for the inventory and the process is $75 per couple.

Preparation: It is imperative that you begin the process 6 months prior to the “big event.” If you do not have 6 months before the “big event,” we can recommend a local counselor from our referral list.
